2 Years

This weekend, my husband Ryan and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary! Our big treat to each other was a couples massage at Sanctuary Day Spa in Salt Lake City. Our appointment was at 11:00 am this morning.
The couples package we purchased began with an exfoliating foot scrub and was followed by the massage itself. It was wonderful, 1 hour of deep relaxing massage strokes, followed by a 30 minute soak in a deep, candlelit bubble bath :)
Our package also offered a $50 upgrade in which we received a $100 gift card to Flemings Steak House. Yes, the word steak kind of freaks me out, but lucky for me, they had salmon :D It was delicious--a whole $100 worth of delicious, high quality food served with a very romantic ambiance! As a treat for our anniversary, we were given a complimentary dark chocolate lava cake with pistachio crusted vanilla ice cream. Ryan was insistent that it was a night worthy of a splurge.
We spent the night strolling Gateway-Ryan was sweet enough to spend over an hour in Anthropologie:) And we then enjoyed a romantic night in the Marriott City Center in downtown Salt Lake.
it was a perfect anniversary celebration- one to remember :)

PIZZERIA 712!

This weeks post is a review of my favorite restaurant, Pizzeria 712. It is located off of state street in Orem, before it intersects with Center. My husband and I are pretty much lame regulars there. We have been going every Friday or Saturday night for about 5 months. We are fortunate to have developed a relationship with the people there, it is such a neat environment. One person in particular is named Danny. He is our server almost every week and has taught us the true art of being a waiter. When he explains the entrees on the menu, my husband and I nearly salivate- it's almost as if you can taste what he is describing!
One thing to know about Pizzeria, is that they only cook with the best and freshest ingredients. They get all their produce from local farms and change their menu to accomodate the changing seasons. Our favorite pizza was from over the summer- it was a corn pizza, with onions, chile's grana padano and goat cheeses. It won Utah's best pizza award!
Bottom line is, everyone in utah valley should take advantage of this local gem! It's actually a pizza place that you can feel nutritionally safe eating at! Its fresh and light and oh so freaking delicious!

26.2 RENEW!!

I feel like I received an answer to a prayer last week, and that was the blessing of a friend. I met a girl named Jenisy in my worksite health promotion class, and we related on the topic of running. She asked me if I intended to do any marathons in the spring and I replied "Im sure I will, I just don't have one planned." She subsequently began telling me about the ogden marathon in May. Apparently it is not only a Boston Marathon "qualifier", but it is also a beautifully landscaped, peaceful course!
Not only did we begin relishing in our love for running, but she asked if I would like to do our long run together that following Saturday. I jumped at the offer and we had a fabulous time!
We completed 10 miles in just under an hour and a half and we plan to up our speed so that we can do a full marathon in the Boston qualifying time of 3 hours and 40 minutes. We both registered for the race that following Tuesday ($95 :P better be worth it!) and we plan on training together through out the winter.
I honestly feel renewed. Since my back injury, I've felt somewhat in a gloom, like it'll be a long time before renewing my marathon running glory days. However, now I feel so lifted and excited about this love of mine that has again taken root. Not only that, I have a new, dear friend to share it with!

Tootles!
